Dr. Montoliu received her doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Valencia.
She is currently developing her research activity at the Neurological Deterioration Laboratory in the INCLIVA Health Research Institute, which she combines with her work as an Associated Professor at the Pathology Department (histology area), at the same university. She has directed several different doctoral theses and master’s degrees throughout her professional career.
She coordinates the Transversal Neurological Deterioration Program, with the participation of both clinical and basic research groups, and is a member of the joint University Clinical Hospital Research Foundation in Valencia (FIHCUV; Fundación Investigación Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia)-INCLIVA-University of Valencia Training and Mobility Committee. In addition, she directs the Euro-Mediterranean Master’s degree in Neuroscience and Biotechnology at the University of Valencia.
Her research activity has produced over 95 articles published in international journals, as well as different international patents.
Her group was the first to find a diagnostic marker for minimal hepatic encephalopathy and to identify a biomarker for detecting early cognitive impairment in patients with liver cirrhosis.
