Research Group on Breast Cancer Biology
Oncology Area
Our breast cancer research group is concentrated on translational research in order to better understand the underlying complex mechanisms of the disease. We focused in the development of more efficient medicine through the study of biomarkers and specific molecular targets on the clinical trials.
In our laboratory, we use innovative and cutting-edge techniques that includes genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic analysis, as well as radiomic. This multidisciplinary approximation allows us to study in detail the molecular biology of breast tumors and to discover key prognosis and predictive biomarkers.
One of the cornerstones of our work is the use of representative preclinical models of the disease, like the PDX models (patient-derived xenograft), that accurately reproduces the tumor heterogeneity and the observed response to treatment on real patients. These models allow us to evaluate the efficiency of new therapies and validate our preclinic results before the application in the clinical trials.
To conclude, our objective is to advance in the scientific knowledge about breast cancer to develop more precise and personalized therapies. We strongly believe in the importance of translational research as a bridge between the clinic and the laboratory, with the purpose of improve the results and the life quality for breast cancer patients.
