Introduction

The Bioinformatics Unit (UB) is a core facility of INCLIVA that provides research support services based on the analysis of omics data and other types of biomedical data. The UB also offers support for the development of specific software or pipelines, as well as training in Bioinformatics.

Currently, the UB offers a wide range of services open both to INCLIVA Foundation staff, for whom the service is free of charge, and to external researchers and companies.

Services

Our mission is to drive, promote, and execute quality translational research by offering methodological, analytical, and computational support. To do this, our team makes the most advanced technology available to you through the following portfolio of services:

  • Design, development, validation and analysis of genes panels based on NGS. Detection of both germline and somatic variants in blood, FFPE, fresh tissues or liquid biopsies.
  • Exome data analysis. Prioritization of potentially pathological variants, identification of affected pathways, genotype-phenotype relationship.
  • Bulk and single-cell RNASeq data analysis.
  • Analysis of small RNAs (miRNAs).
  • Analysis of metagenomes.
  • Methylome analysis (both arrays and NGS).
  • Complex network data integration.
  • Database integration and mining.
  • Graphical representation of research results.
  • Curation and analysis of databases.
  • Custom-made software.
  • Advice and methodological support to write protocols, research project proposals, articles, doctoral/MSc/BSc thesis.
Equipment

INCLIVA has its own Data Processing Center (DPC) which houses different servers with a total capacity of 350 CPUs, 700 execution threads, 6.5 TB of ECC RAM, ~350 TB of redundant HDD storage, 20 TB of solid-state storage (SSD) and more than 600 TB of secondary storage for backups. In addition, the DPC has servers with CUDA parallelized computing capabilities supported by two Nvidia A40 GPUs.

In addition, and as part of the Valencian biomedical research community, we also had access to a large computing facility hosted at the Centro de Investigation Príncipe Felipe to cope with large projects.
