Dr. Pilar Eroles Asensio
Principal Investigator
Research Group on Breast Cancer Biology
Presentation
Dr. Pilar Eroles ─a Miguel Servet researcher of the Carlos III Health Institute joined the Biomedical Research Institute INCLIVA of the Clinical University Hospital of Valencia in 2004. Furthermore, is an associate professor at the Department of Physiology at the University of Valencia and principal co ─ investigator of the Research Group on Breast Cancer Biology.
Her research focusses on the resistance mechanisms to current breast cancer treatments, analyzing the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, epigenetics modifications and the regulation of the tumor microenvironment. The objective of the team is to develop new therapeutic strategies to overcome these resistances, through the combination of biological agents and the development of new treatments like nanoparticles.
She has participated in more than 30 funded projects, being the principal investigator in 9 of them. Her work has been published in prestigious journals like Cancer Cell, Blood, European Journal of Cancer and Oncotarget. Furthermore, she has supervised 9 doctoral thesis and currently she is supervising 2 more, as well as final projects for bachelor and master courses. She is a member of the Research Commission of INCLIVA, she is also a proofreader for various international scientific journals and assessor of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
